Just coming back from a whirlwind trip to NYC, we caught some pics from HGTV's party to kick off the new season of Design Star. Our own Todd Davis was there enjoying the fun with some of the other castmates from Design Star - Kim, Robb, and Organic Josh.

In another HGTV event, Todd was hoisted 60 feet above Time Square as a show of force that he was going to tackle then next Design Star challenge. Todd, is that kevlar?
More people need to watch Design Star.
I felt that mostly in developing countries there seemed to be more emphasis in "catching good waves", growing your own organic food, spending time with loved ones, and an overall feeling that "less is more.."
Well in my opinion, these people need to realize, as the world should, that we as a global friendly community need to watch more "Design Star". "More" is way better than just a little..I mean what if you caught a "little wave", spent "less time with the family", or consumed "small" portions of incredibly fresh fruit while lounging under a really "tiny" shady palm tree...
Seriously, when all of you lovely people jump on that plane this week and frolic amongst fellow party goers and genuinely happy people throughout our globe, be sure to give them a high five and tell them their lives will be much better if they listen to "Robb" trying to tell a junkyard employee that they should give him a ghetto car door for ten bucks instead of twelve, or "Scott" carry on that seven lamp shades above a table is actually better than six, or "Lisa" thinking that spelling "Stars" backwards is a cool way to bring us all together as a team that feeds on rotten cheese and lives in the subway....
You get my point folks and that is why I addressed the world last week at the United Nations, emphasizing worldly good solid design, and general love for all mankind. The speech went pretty well and I definitely think people are going to watch more of the show.

Todd Davis
Todd's energy, enthusiasm, and craftsmenship totally shined on last night's episode of Design Star. He unleashes his imagination in episode two and designs and fabricates a half-pipe for some "suite" fun. Todd also lends a helping hand to his teammates and skillfully puts together a dining room table that was one of the cornerstones of design this week. The San Francisco Chronicle recently paid Todd a visit at home to talk about his experiences in design, in life and the road to becoming a finalist on HGTV Design Star. The article references Todd's artwork, featuring Earth Chum and others. Check it out>>
If you happen to be cruisin' on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood (and we make no judgments on why you would be doing that), keep your eyes peeled for Todd's big mug on the Design Star billboard. It is right by Chateau Marmont.
On July 22, 2007, HGTV Design Star aired the premiere episode, sorting through the countless applications they received for contestants and announcing the eleven finalists. As previously mentioned, our own Todd Davis has made the cut. Now the games begin.
