HGTV's latest "Design Star" makes her series debut Sunday with the 7 p.m. sneak peek of "Myles of Style."
Kim Myles, the people's choice last year over co-finalist Todd Davis, the wacky, athletic and shirtless contestant from San Francisco, describes her personal style as "global urban elegance," and HGTV is showcasing her in a makeover show where she promises to do one project per week that viewers can try at home. The show's regular time slot will be 8:30 p.m. Thursdays.
As for Davis, the former extreme sports professional oozes excitement on his Web site for a recent Beverly Hills project in what probably should be his specialty: kids' rooms. There's one for twin boys themed "where the land meets the sea," and another for their sister, who is going to be living in heaven.
He's also redoing the entire Palm Springs estate of Elvis Presley and building a tree house.
Then there's his latest at-home project: That basketball court he built in what would otherwise have been the dining room of his and wife Gena's loft behind Ghirardelli Square has been replaced by a nursery.
"I built a wall, painted the court arctic blue, left the hoop up for dirty diaper dunking, created a new, 6-foot, 3-D art piece and made 15-foot-tall curtains to soften the wall," he e-mailed. The couple are expecting a boy any day now.
